Welcome to the My Line Page
I
I have of course reached a sticking point.
Due to some members of the family attaining fame in naval and scientific endeavor
there is a mass of information from the 1700's but in the early 1800's this most
famous line dies out. This leaves a wide spread of family branches in various
areas of Scotland - one of which migrated to Manchester in Northern England from
the Caerlaverock area of Scotland. (This is my branch)
The big question is where did they come from ????
Working in the opposite direction I can go back 7 Generations as shown here.

This is as far back as I can directly go but in the same geographical location were some other Brisbane families which probably join the line further back. I include details to see if anyone can add to my knowledge.

James Pott Bap 15 Oct 1820, Moffat
These last two are obviously linked due to the James Pott name and all are so geographically close that they have to be part of the families already known !
Perhaps People will be able to see
where they branch off from this tree and I would be interested to know the
details and be able to update my database.
Recently it has come to my attention that there are MI's (Monumental
Inscriptions) available as reference data, if anyone has these - I'm
Begging.
A large amount of my own data comes from "OPR's" (Old Parish Records), which
luckily are available for Scotland on the Internet.
I Currently use an excellent
shareware program from Spansoft called Kith&Kin but can output data in the
GEDCOM standard and
email it on request. This package is Graphical in nature and so allows
geographical grouping. This lets you make assumptions as regards family links,
hence I am dubious about releasing some of my conclusions until some form of
corroboration turns up.
Thank You to all those who have responded to this page, keep up the good work - There is light at the end of the tunnel.
