is probably the most famous of all
Brisbane's

This Gentleman crossed the tropics 12 times, the Equinoctial twice, circumnavigated the globe, was in North America - South America - Northern Europe and The Mediterranean.
In the winter of 1794 he slept for six nights in the snow with nothing but his cloak over him, during one of those nights 800 soldiers were frozen to death around him. He was involved in many heroic battles and was a friend to the Duke of Wellington, he was Governor General of New South Wales from 1821 to 1825 and was the Oldest officer of the army with 69 years of military service. He was also a scientist and established observatories in Scotland and Australia, Gaining Honorary Degrees from both Oxford & Cambridge Universities for his scientific work.
Sadly he outlived his children and had no grandchildren, the title went to a distant cousin.

A Famous Bloodline
On 29th August 1562 Robert Brisbane Married Janette (Jonet) Stewart.
Janette's branch of the house of Stuart was founded by John Stewart, natural son of King Robert the 3rd who was great grandson to Robert the Bruce.
Through this marriage therefore, subsequent Brisbane's descend from Robert the Bruce.
